KPI review cadence

KPI review cadence is the planned frequency, timing, and structure used to review key performance indicators and decide whether action is needed. In manufacturing, it defines how often operational, quality, delivery, cost, or safety-related metrics are checked, who reviews them, and what type of response is expected.

A KPI review cadence is commonly used in daily management systems, tiered meetings, production reviews, quality reviews, and executive operations reviews. For example, line-level metrics such as downtime, scrap, or schedule adherence may be reviewed daily or by shift, while broader measures such as yield trends, supplier performance, or cost of poor quality may be reviewed weekly or monthly.

The term refers to the review rhythm and governance around KPI use. It is not the KPI itself, the target value, or the dashboard displaying the data. A useful cadence is usually aligned with how quickly the metric changes, how soon decisions are needed, and which level of the organization can act on the information.
