An NCR template is a structured form or digital record layout used to document a nonconformance report. In manufacturing, it defines the standard information captured when a product, process, material, or documentation item does not meet a specified requirement.
An NCR template commonly includes fields for the affected part or order, requirement reference, observed condition, location, quantity affected, containment action, disposition, responsible roles, approvals, attachments, and follow-up actions. In digital quality systems, MES, ERP, or QMS workflows, the template helps make nonconformance records consistent and traceable across production, inspection, supplier quality, and review processes.
An NCR template should not be confused with the nonconformance itself or with a corrective action process. The NCR records and routes the issue and its disposition. CAPA, RCCA, or 8D workflows may follow when root cause analysis or broader corrective action is required.
