The term is closely related to a training matrix or competency matrix. A training matrix usually emphasizes completed or required training, while a competency matrix may include assessed proficiency levels. A skills matrix should not be treated as the underlying evidence by itself; it typically points to supporting training records, assessments, approvals, or experience records.
