Classroom training is instructor-led training delivered to one or more learners in a structured session. In manufacturing and industrial environments, it commonly refers to formal instruction on procedures, quality requirements, safety-related practices, customer requirements, software use, or process changes.
Classroom training may be delivered in person or virtually, but it is usually distinct from on-the-job training, self-paced digital instructions, and informal coaching. It is often used when a topic requires explanation, discussion, assessment, or documented attendance before an operator, inspector, technician, or engineer performs related work.
In regulated or quality-sensitive operations, classroom training is commonly linked to training records, qualification matrices, revision-controlled procedures, and role-based competency requirements. Digital work instructions can support or replace the delivery method for some procedural content, but they do not automatically replace required competency checks, qualification evidence, instructor-led requirements, or customer-specific training obligations.
