An audit-ready NCR is a nonconformance report or record that is complete, traceable, and organized enough to support review during an internal, customer, or external audit. It refers to the quality record for a detected nonconformance, including the issue description, affected part or process, containment or disposition, approvals, and supporting objective evidence.
In manufacturing and regulated supply chains, an audit-ready NCR commonly includes clear links to production orders, serial or lot numbers, inspection results, drawings or specifications, disposition authority, rework or scrap decisions, and closure status. The record should show who made decisions, when they were made, and what evidence supports them.
An audit-ready NCR is not the same as a CAPA, although an NCR may lead to corrective action when the issue is systemic or recurring. It also does not imply that an audit outcome is assured. The term means the nonconformance record is controlled, reviewable, and traceable enough to explain the event and its handling.
