A quality disposition board is a defined forum, role group, or workflow used to decide how nonconforming, suspect, or quality-held material should be handled. It commonly reviews quality records, inspection results, deviations, and production context before assigning an authorized disposition.
In manufacturing, the board may decide whether an item is accepted as-is, reworked, repaired, scrapped, returned to a supplier, or escalated for further engineering or quality review. The term can refer to a recurring meeting, an electronic approval queue, or the controlled decision process within a QMS, MES, or nonconformance management system.
A quality disposition board is closely related to a Material Review Board or MRB, especially when the decision concerns physical product or material. It should not be confused with a simple quality dashboard. A dashboard displays status or metrics; a disposition board applies defined authority to resolve a specific quality condition and create a traceable record of the decision.
