Aerospace production visibility is the ability to see the current state of aerospace manufacturing work in progress, including where jobs stand, what is blocking them, and which quality or material signals need attention.
In industrial systems, the term commonly refers to timely access to production data from MES, ERP, PLM, quality, inspection, inventory, and supplier-related workflows. It may include work order status, operation progress, serial or lot movement, shortages, inspection holds, nonconformances, rework, capacity constraints, and schedule risk.
Aerospace production visibility is closely related to traceability, but the terms are not identical. Traceability focuses on the recorded history and relationships of parts, materials, processes, and approvals. Production visibility focuses on the operational picture of what is happening now or what has recently changed. A dashboard may present visibility, but visibility depends on the accuracy, context, and flow of the underlying data, not just the display layer.
The term is commonly used in program execution, shop floor control, quality management, supplier coordination, and ERP/MES integration. It does not by itself imply compliance, certification, or audit readiness; it describes the availability and usefulness of production information for operational decision-making.
