Compliance evidence is documented information used to show that a process, product, system, or activity followed defined requirements. In manufacturing, it commonly refers to records, data, approvals, and traceable artifacts that support quality reviews, customer requirements, internal audits, or regulatory inspections.
Examples include inspection results, electronic signatures, audit trails, training records, calibration records, nonconformance dispositions, device history records, first article inspection records, and controlled work instruction revisions. The evidence may be stored in systems such as MES, QMS, ERP, PLM, document control, or maintenance systems.
Compliance evidence should not be confused with certification or an audit outcome. It does not by itself establish that an organization is compliant. It provides the objective information that reviewers can use to assess whether requirements were followed. In digital workflows, useful compliance evidence is typically linked to context such as part number, lot or serial number, work order, user identity, timestamp, revision, and approval status.
